Entrance is tucked off Frost Mill Rd with a decent parking lot; trails form two loops (red by the lake/train tracks, blue deeper in woods). Wooded trails, streams, ponds and an observation deck make this 11-preserve network on Long Island’s Gold Coast ideal for intimate nature and wildlife shots—snapping turtles, waterfowl and spring wildflowers. Best at sunrise or early morning for soft light, bird activity and fewer visitors. Some preserves (e.g., Coffin Woods, Shu Preserve) have parking; many do not—plan for short walks from roadside parking.
