Peninnis Head

Peninnis Head is a windswept granite headland on St Mary’s with a distinctive white lighthouse, sheer cliffs, seabird colonies and wide Atlantic views — ideal for dramatic coastal panoramas, lighthouse studies and wildlife/shoreline detail. Best at golden hour or sunset for warm side-lighting; mornings bring calmer seas for reflections. Access is on foot from Hugh Town (20–40 min) along well-marked paths; no entry fee. Expect wind, uneven ground and seasonal wildflowers. Limited parking in Hugh
