National Trust - Northey Island

Tidal Northey Island offers saltmarsh, reedbeds, veteran trees and historic battlefield feel — ideal for moody coastal landscapes, wide reflections at low tide and birdlife. Access is on foot via a tidal causeway only at low tide (check tide tables). Managed by the National Trust; no vehicles or facilities on the island. Park in nearby villages (Maldon/Goldhanger) and allow time to cross/return before the tide. Best light: sunrise and sunset for warm sidelighting and reflective pools; autumn–win
