Oldfield to Wirral Way

A flat, traffic-free rail-trail through Thurstaston Common and coastal heath with sweeping views across the Dee Estuary to North Wales. Photograph rolling heath, gorse and birch copses, seasonal wildflowers, curlews and waders on mudflats, and dramatic skies at sunrise/sunset. Easily accessed from Thurstaston car park (pay car park at Visitor Centre), no entry fee. Best light at golden hour and low tide for exposed estuary textures; weekdays and early mornings reduce walkers and cyclists. Trail:
